In 1873, the old New Yorker Staats-Zeitung building was completed. The old Croton Fountain was placed in the center of the City Hall Park in 1842 and replaced by this new fountain in 1872, today called Jacob Wrey Mould Fountain. The New York County Courthouse (now Tweed Courthouse) was completed in 1881. The building is represented here unfinished, without its dome. In 1888, the French's Hotel (opened in 1849) on Park Row, corner of Frankfort Street was demolished and the the World Building was completed on the site in 1890.
