The Gimbels and the Sacks department stores are on the left. The Gimbel Brothers was founded in 1842 and operated until 1987. The company opened this department store in 1910. The building of the Saks, at 1311 Broadway, was erected in 1902. The Macy's building (partially seen), located at 151 W 34th Street and Broadway, was also completed in 1902.
The Hotel Martinique is on the right. The original building, at West 33rd Street, was completed in 1898. It was expanded twice: in 1903 and in 1910.
