Fifth Avenue Hotel and 23rd Street - 1860s

The Fifth Avenue Hotel, was a luxury hotel completed in 1859 and demolished in 1908. It occupied the entire block between West 23rd Street and West 24th St., formerly occupied by the Madison Cottage and then by the Hippodrome in 1853.

The Albemarle, on the right, on the northwest corner of 24th Street, opened in 1860 and was demolished in 1915.
