Whitby Hotel, West 56th Street NYC

The Whitby Hotel is located at 18 West 56th Street, between 5th and 6th avenues, in Midtown Manhattan. The 16-story all-concrete hotel was built in 2014-2016, opened in February 2017 and is operated by Firmdale Hotels. Its unique colorful interior was designed by Kit Kemp Design Studio.

Firmdale Hotels comprises 11 hotels and nine bars and restaurants in London and New York, each individually designed and decorated by Kit Kemp. It includes the Soho’s Crosby Street Hotel, which opened in 2009, and the Warren Street Hotel, opened in 2024 in TriBeCa.

Whitby Hotel facilities include the Whitby Bar and Restaurant, that offers breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and cocktails, lobby lounge, the Orangery, with a collection of traditional baskets hanging over the lobby bar, the courtyard terrace, and the 130-seat private cinema that is the Whitby Theater.

The hotel is near Central Park, some of New York's leading restaurants, galleries, museums and the Rockefeller Center.
