The prominent Western Union Building, with a clock tower, was completed in 1875, being one of the early skyscrapers in New York. The old Astor House, completed in 1836, is to the extreme right and the portico of the St. Paul's Chapel is seen at the southern side of Vesey Street. The spire of the Trinity Church is in the distance. The old New York Herald Building, corner of Ann St. is on the left.
