The New York Post Office Building, located in the southern end of City Hall Park, was built from 1869 to 1880, but began to be occupied in 1875. It was demolished in 1939.
The tallest buildings in the distance on Broadway are the Postal Telegraph Building and the Home Life Building. The old Astor House, opened in 1836, is on the left, corner of Barclay Street.
