Ansonia Apartments - 1905
The Ansonia opened its doors in 1903 at 2109 Broadway, between W 73rd and W 74th streets, in New York City. It was then considered to be a luxury apartment hotel. Construction of this 17-story building, with Beaux Arts façade and a mansard roof, began in 1899. In 1972, it was designated a New York City Landmark and, in 1980, it was inducted to the National Register of Historic Places.
The old Rutgers Presbyterian Church is seen on the left. Its origins date to 1798 in Lower Manhattan.
