Sofitel New York

The Sofitel New York is located at 45 West 44th Street, between 5th and 6th avenues, in the Theater District of Midtown Manhattan. This boutique hotel, with 398 guest rooms, is owned and managed by the Sofitel Hotels and Resorts, part of the Accor S.A., a French multinational hospitality company.

In the early of 20th century, the site fronting West 44th Street was occupied by a three-story building, replaced later by a 9-story building (photo below). The 30-story building, with façades of limestone and glass, and a T-shaped base, was designed by Brennan Beer Gorman. Construction began in 1997 and it was completed in 2000.

Amenities include gym (Le Club Fitness), Le Grand Paris Ballroom, French restaurant Gaby and bar Mademoiselle Gaby, in the ground floor, eight meeting rooms with capacity of 10 to 60 people.

The Sofitel New York is next to the historic New York Yacht Club Building, built in 1901, near the Harvard Club, built in 1894, the Penn Club, built in 1901, Belasco Theatre, Times Square, Bryant Park and the New York Public Library on Fifth Avenue.
