Merchant’s Gate and U.S.S. Maine National Monument - about 1928

The Maine Monument stands at Merchant’s Gate, a southwestern entrance to Central Park, named in 1862 to recognize the importance of commerce and business in New York City. This Monument was cast on September 1, 1912 and dedicated on May 30, 1913.
