Seventh Avenue at Times Square
The Seventh Avenue intersects Broadway at Times Square, between 43rd Street and 47th Street. It was Long Acre Square until 1904.
In the second half of 19th century, the area north of 42d Street was the horse center of New York City. In 1881, the American Horse Exchange was built at Broadway, Seventh Avenue and 50th Street. It was destroyed by fire in 1896 and rebuilt in 1897.
